About

Behind The Sweet Balance

Hi! My name is Kimberly Magri, but you can call me Kim. I’m a baker, food photographer and creator of The Sweet Balance. I’m reasonably addicted to anything chocolate and sugar, particularly brownies, caramel and cookies. Based in the small island of Malta, my goal is to connect with people from all over the world with common interests; photography, baking and eating! On this blog, you will find delicious recipes, baking tips & techniques and photography guides.

So, how did I get into baking? My mum is the original baker in the family, and despite her protests (I’m a messy baker), I went down the same path. She shared her recipes with me and since then, I’ve worked on adding loooads of my own. Having a photography background, I would then spend a significant time taking the perfect photos to share on social media. And I absolutely love it! I enjoy the whole process; from creating recipes, to baking, and finally photographing but the true perk is that I get to eat what I make!

How it all started

The idea for The Sweet Balance came about when I was getting more interested in baking. Having a desire to share my creations with other bakers and foodies, I started my Instagram account in February ’18 and my Facebook page the following month. Then, I decided to create this blog where I could share my recipes and have a platform to connect with the community.  A year later, this website was officially launched.  And as they say; the rest is history? Well, I think this is just the beginning!

As for my motto; ‘Balance is a cake in one hand and donuts in the other’, it is a tongue in cheek phrase. It made for a cute logo (in my biased opinion), but it has a double meaning. While I am a huge believer in treating yourself, I am also an advocate for balance in all aspects of life. Combining a healthy lifestyle with the occasional treat is the REAL sweet balance for me.

I hope you enjoy my content. Feel free to connect on social media.

Last but not least, thank YOU for reading what would otherwise be a monologue!

Now I’m off to bake something wonderful. I suggest that you join me!

Happy baking (and eating),

Kim x
